We're part of the Altice USA family, America's fourth largest cable network and partners with Cheddar, the business focused cable channel. Responsibilities The next news director will complement their accomplished journalism chops with strong strategic, organizational, scheduling, budget and workflow ideas and execution. Evidence of a strong producing background gets our attention along with a leadership style that balances the drive for innovation and success with active employee engagement, feedback, and communication. Since we're in the Northeast - come with a demonstrated skillset in delivering impressive multi-platform all year weather coverage. It's a large New York viewing area encompassing all Long Island. Develop a culture rich in accountability with beat-driven journalism along with content and workflow that embraces and enhances the intersection between linear and digital/social. Strong skillset in identifying, evaluating performance, and coaching on-air talent. Interact with executive management in the development and implementation of network content, policies, priorities and short-and long-term strategic planning for the news station. Knowledge and ability to develop superior collaboration between editorial and operations and field staff with an eye towards maximizing technology. In conjunction with network executives, the News Director will market the product, enhance/innovate ad sales opportunities, and direct the digital, social media and OTT strategies for the channel. Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor's degree required 10
years in journalism, including 8
in television news, with a reputation for quality demonstrated through awards, honors, ratings, brand elevation At least 5
years in television management with superior news judgment and an audience focused strategic approach Proficiency in current and emerging newsgathering and production technologies An unwavering commitment to watch, read and evaluate multi-platform performance Understanding budgeting and the economics of a news station A thorough knowledge of libel laws and ethical foundations of journalism Experience with programming and production budgets preferred Ability to manage a fast moving, high pressure newsroom environment Demonstrated ability to motivate staff, provide clear accountabilities and improve work culture Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as required in a newsroom Demonstrated knowledge of digital, social media and OTT platforms Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, leadership, communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills along with coaching and training skills Committed to on-air talent evaluation, coaching and motivation. A keen understanding of Nielsen ratings and a deep appreciation for data driven performance metrics on all platforms Problem Solver who can quickly assimilate input and make a decision. $200K -- $250K
