Junior Landscape Architect/Landscape Architect

Duties of the Junior Landscape Architect/ Landscape Architect include, but are not limited to:
Preparing plans, specifications, and estimates for the landscape, roadway, wetland mitigation, grading, drainage, sidewalk, bike path, stormwater quality, and quantity management portions of highway and bridge projects; Utilizing MicroStation, Inroads, Hydro CADD, ProjectWise, and other software packages to perform project work; Coordinating landscape and site work with architectural and engineering work in the planning, design, and construction phases of project development; Developing presentation materials and renderings (project visualizations) for public outreach; Participating in the preparation of Design Reports, design guidance, and other written documents; Reviewing projects for environmental impacts and preparing associated documents to support environmental process determinations; Performing occasional GPS data collection for wetland delineations; Handling special assigned duties such as correspondence, interviews, and investigations. Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System (ICS) to support the Department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations

Salary Range:
From $50967 to $66566 Annually
Minimum Qualification
To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law. If a viable eligible list does not exist, a provisional appointment may be made in accordance with Civil Service Law. Candidates who accept a provisional appointment must take the next competitive examination and be reachable on the resultant eligible list to be considered for permanent appointment to the position. Either 1. a bachelor's or higher-level degree in landscape architecture. Or 2. a Landscape Architect's License from any state or political subdivision of the United States. Note:
Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university with a Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) accredited curriculum, a Canadian Society of Landscape Architects Accreditation Council (CSLAAC), or by a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the NYS Education Department as following acceptable practices. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. //www.cs.ny.gov/jobseeker/degrees.cfm. You must pay the required evaluation fee. You will be required to provide proof of having an out-of-state Landscape Architect License at time of interview. Junior Landscape Architects who have successfully completed one year of service and have passed Sections 1 and 2 of the Landscape Architect Registration examination (LARE) will be advanced to Landscape Architect, Grade 20 (beginning salary $66,566). Failure to obtain a passing result on both Section 1 & 2 of the LARE within the first year of service will result in removal from your position. Advanced Placement:
If beyond meeting the minimum qualifications you have passed both Sections 1 and 2 of the LARE AND have one year of full-time experience, you may be appointed directly to a Landscape Architect, Grade 20. You must inform the appointing agency of this experience at time of interview. Advanced placement appointments are at the discretion of the hiring agency.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
