The Merchandiser at Swimwear Anywhere Inc. is responsible for forecasting company trends and must understand the brand identity, demographic, market and consumer of each line we design. This role must be able to infer and understand the needs, ideas and requirements of our customers to make the fashion relatable. The Merchandiser will interpret the styles that will be designed, developed, and edited based on the brand identity and consumer demographic of each of our lines.
The Merchandiser has the ability to translate fashion trends and forecast each trend into saleable garments that relate to each demographic we represent. He/she must consider how the garments will be used and therefore which properties it needs, prior to producing design ideas, sketches and samples. The Merchandiser initiates the line, organizes and directs the staff in the development and coloration of intended designs, coordinates with the designers to have the samples produced, and then edits and finalizes the group of designs to be shown for the season.
Responsibilities:
Market research to bring innovative ideas and new fabric technologies to our brands
Work with retailers and licensees on brand direction
Drive the creative process for specific fibers , fabrics, trims and garment styling
Partner with merchandising, production, and design to provide fashion direction
Create a clear concept and merchandising plan for each season detailing color, trend and styling
Work to deadlines and within a budget

The ability to analyze a complex set of issues and stand behind your choices
Requirements:
Minimum 5-7 years initiating, recommending and implementing merchandise strategies in a high-end fashion apparel company
Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Merchandising or related field; Masters a plus
Excellent attention to detail, organized and with the ability to deliver results against tight and complex deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Exceptional problem solver
Strong CAD and Illustrator skills
Work independently, or as part of a team with positive energy and confidence
Ability to establish good relationships with key parties and department staff
