Position Title:
Manager, Sustainability and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) _____________________________________________________________________________________________

Position Summary

The Manager, Sustainability and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) will focus on researching, maintaining, developing, and executing, a variety of sustainability and ESG programs across JetBlue.
The Manager will ensure robust oversight of multiple programs, ensuring the airline is able to maximize opportunities and minimize risk arising from key environmental, social, and governance topics.
The position will broadly support all Sustainability and ESG programs, though will focus on three primary categories of work 1.
) Developing ESG strategy, overseeing ESG trends research, data, reporting, and organizational oversight 2.
) Maintaining and growing various operational sustainability programs focused on aviation decarbonization and waste minimization 3.
) Executing and evolving the domestic carbon neutrality initiative as we advance toward net zero.
The Manager will collaborate with departments across the organization to execute innovative partnership that advance the sustainability of the business and engagement with key stakeholders.
The Manager will have the ability to be self-driven and independent.
Ability to self-motivate and drive one s own creative work is an imperative.

Essential Responsibilities

  • ESG
    • Continuously research and internally communicate emerging ESG trends, evolving ESG program to meet public and investor expectations
    • Develop, refine, and measure progress toward company targets across a variety of ESG topics
    • Prepare agendas, reading materials, and focus areas for the Board, including via the ESG Subcommittee and Board
  • Sustainable operations
    • Support and lead decarbonization efforts including procurement and growth of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), aircraft fuel optimization, and partnerships with alternative energy aircraft companies
    • Improve and quantify the operational onboard recycling program, creating and growing system-wide onboard product recycling programs.
    • Partner with Product department to enhance sustainability of product used onboard aircraft and throughout JetBlue operations
  • Maintain and evolve carbon neutrality
    • Manage execution of domestic carbon neutrality, ensuring retirement of high-quality, audited offsets that exactly offset actual domestic carbon emissions
    • Evolve program and strategize the future look of offsets
    • Develop roadmap and technical plan to reach 2040 net zero goal
  • Program growth and management
    • Work collaboratively across the organization with departments including Fuel and Operations; Investor Relations; Corporate Communications; Marketing; Ops Analysis; Network Planning; Government Affairs; Finance; Sourcing; Corporate Sales; Loyalty; Treasury; Facilities; Properties; IT; Senior Leadership and more to identify and define the most essential strategic priorities related to sustainability and ESG
    • Distill key strategic themes, ideas, and opportunities into tangible executable initiatives
    • Consistently promote sustainability work internally and externally in cooperation with communications department that convey strategic objectives to various audiences.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in any field
  • Five (5) years of related experience in sustainability, ESG, and/or aviation
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking, including financial analysis / modeling to assess strategic options, and developing creative solutions to complex problems
  • Experience in developing business cases and high level program implementation plans including milestones and progress measurement
  • Organized, detail oriented and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong problem identification and solving skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow complex instructions
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Master s degree in any related field

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.
    ) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue s safety performance metric goals and understanding how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
